DAVE FOX

England Home Under 20 v Wales U20 Friendly 2003

Dave Fox's worn England home shirt from the Under 20 International friendly against Wales at Britannia Stadium Stoke on 14th November 2003. Used by England as a warm up game for their forthcoming FIFA World Youth Cup Tournament in the United Arab Emirates, -being held between the 27th November and 19th December 2003- The tournament was due to have been played earlier in June 2003 but was postponed due to the outbreak of the Iraq War.

Foxy played against Dave Edwards in the match and both have subsequently given me their match shirts, Foxy doing so in the Players Bar after the game. He later signed it, personalising it to me. Another young pro who i'd worked with at Shrewsbury Town, Glenn Tolley -cousin of Jamie Tolley- also came on as a second half substitue for Wales making his one and only international representative appearance. England won the game 2-0 and included Justin Hoyte, Steven Taylor, Michael Chopra, Darren Carter and James Milner in their team with future full international James Collins appearing for Wales.

David Fox made representative appearances for England from the age of U15's to U20's and not only played in the World Youth Cup, but also appeared and captained England in the Toulon Tournament. He has given me some stick when signing my guestbook, so i am happy to list one of his shirts here, especially because it was worn against Wales. A very personal way to start my opposition exchange/swap shirt section.
