JOEY JONES

Hummel Home (1987-90) versus Czechoslovakia 1987

Joey Jones' Wales home Hummel manufactured match and Squad Signed shirt as unused substitute in the European Championship Qualifying game against Czechoslovakia, at Jones's second home, The Racecourse Ground, Wrexham on 29th April 1987. This was only the second time Wales senior team had worn the Danish Hummel manufactured shirt, the short sleeve version for this game actually carrying the replica embossed crest but the felt Hummel block, shadow font numbers to the reverse, which carried the manufacturers logo.

The game finished as a 1-1 draw, with Wales late equaliser coming from the ever dependable Ian Rush. Jones had already made, a then record, 72 appearances for his country. After announcing his international retirement, he agreed to his call up with manager Mike England, as and when he was short of players to select. Jones had his unworn shirt squad signed post match and then donated it to a local charity.
