BILLY MORRIS

Home (1946-56) vs Rest Of The United Kingdom 1951 FAW 75th Anniversary Match

This is the Wales home red match worn shirt of Burnley's inside forward Billy Morris from the FAW 75th Anniversary celebration game against a Rest Of The United Kingdom XI at Ninian Park, Cardiff on 8th December 1951. The Umbro manufactured shirt carrys the Utility Clothing collar tag as well as outfitters/distributors Jack Sharpe of Liverpool collar label but uniquely, the new FAW Welsh Hearldic Crest, the first time this was crest was seen on a Wales shirt. In an entertaining game, Wales lead with a brace from Ivor Allchurch, either side of a Trevor Ford strike before the UK side rallied with 2 goals from Charlie Fleming and Les Medley but it was not enough as Wales held on to win 3-2.

This was Billy Morris 4th of a five cap international career and purchased at auction when the Morris family put a number of Billy's career memorabilia up for sale.
