TERRY MEDWIN

Terry Medwin's Wales home match worn shirt from the Home International (British) Championship game against England, played at Wembley Stadium on 14th November 1956. England won the game 3-1, after an 8th minute John Charles goal had given Wales a half time lead. Post match Medwin swapped shirts with Stanley Matthews and this from whose collection the shirt comes, purchased at auction when The Matthews memorabilia collection came up for sale.

Medwin, an outside right or orthodox right winger, was another of the Swansea Town players who later moved to North London, Terry playing for Tottenham Hotspur. He was capped 30 times in a decade and scored 6 goals, the most famous being the winner in the 1958 World Cup Finals Play-Off against Hungary, which sent Wales through to the tournament Quarter Finals to face Brazil.
