MALCOLM PAGE

Home (1972) versus England 1972

A rare "one off" home bench worn shirt by unused substitute Malcolm Page in the three nil Home International Championship defeat to England in May 1972. The reason the shirt is a rare "one off" is due to it being made by Bukta, not Umbro who had been the long term kit suppliers to the FAW and would remain so for a further two and half years. A local Cardiff sports shop agreed to sponsor the Welsh kit for this one game, and provided a Bukta strip for the occasion. Wales were not going to use Bukta as kit suppliers until 1975 and then, strangely only for one calander year. It was good to see that the tradition of match detail embroidery above the national Crest continued for this game even with it being a "one off".
