COLIN GREEN

Home (1963-67) versus Brazil 1966

This Wales home red with white round neck collar and cuffs was actually made by Umbro by supplied to the FAW by Jack Sharpe of Liverpool. Another long sleeve shirt which was worn by Colin Green in the South American tour friendly match against Brazil in Rio de Janeiro on 14th May 1966. The shirt is unwashed, showing some signs of its age, and came from a post match exchanged of shirts with Brazilian World Cup winner Britto at the end of match Brazil won 3-1.

Because it was used in a tour match, and i am lead to believe there were limited numbers of shirts for the 3 game South American tour -2 games against Brazil and a visit to Santiago to play Chile- the shirts did not carry the usual match detail opponents embroidery above the National Crest, strangely also absent from the away 1965 friendly against Italy.
