GARETH HALL

Home (1990-92 style) Umbro versus Germany 1991

Former Chelsea full back Gareth Hall was an unused substitute in the historic 1-0 European Championship Qualifying victory over the mighty Germany in the Arms Park National Stadium, Cardiff on 5th June 1991. This is his uworn shirt from the game. The first time victory over a now unified Germany set Wales up with an excellent chance of qualification for Euro'92 in Sweden. Four months later and after a confidence boosting win over Brazil, Wales needed a draw to ensure qualification. But the nightmare in Nuremburg saw Germany show the strength with a crushing 4-1 win -with Dean Saunders sent off to boot- and the qualification dream again end in tears.

Hall sold his personal collection of shirts and medals through a major UK Auction House in 2008 where we were able to pick up four of his match worn Wales shirts. This shirt, along with an away unworn substitutes shirt from RCS game, were purchased prior to this auction from a member of his family, therefore giving us a 6 shirt representation of Gareth's 9 times capped Welsh international career. We'd like to apolgise for the poor quality of the pictures but it is hoped to update these in the near future.
