DAVE EDWARDS

Away 3rd (2003-04) Under 20 Friendly v England 2003

Dave Edwards worn 3rd style away light blue shirt from the Under 20 International friendly 2-0 defeat to England at Britannia Stadium Stoke on 14th November 2003. Used by England as a warm up game for their forthcoming FIFA World Youth Cup Tournament.

Wales played this friendly in a very unusual and controversial light blue shirt. Wales have no historical connection with the colour blue and the professional senior teams have never worn the colour. But kit manufacturers Kappa felt it necessary to produce a third shirt, in blue! because it matched the colour of the Dragons tongue on the national flag!!! I kid you not!!! It was officially the 3rd away choice shirt Kappa produced for the 03/04 season, but as with the white away, was never worn by senior team, to a huge sigh of relief with many at the FAW.

Dave played against another friend of mine, Dave Fox, in the match and Foxy also gave me and signed his shirt in the Players Bar after the game- see opposition shirts section for Foxy's shirt. Another young pro who i'd worked with at Shrewsbury Town, Glenn Tolley -cousin of Jamie Tolley- also came on as a second half substitue for Wales making his one and only international representative appearance.
